Summary of Position: The TVI provides instruction to children ranging in ages from birth to twenty-one years old, primarily with Transition students (ages fourteen to twenty-one), develops and implements individualized lesson plans for each client, collaborates with other professionals, and serves as a community liaison to ensure quality services.

Vision Rehabilitation Instructor/Full-time - FLORIDA
Florida Center for the Blind, Ocala, FL
The Florida Center for the Blind, based in Ocala FL, is seeking a full-time vision rehabilitation instructors for facility-based and community-based training in our eight-county service area. We are immediately interviewing Vision Rehabilitation Therapists (VRTs) and/or Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs), preferably with O&M experience.
The instructors selected will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized lesson plans to assist clients with basic personal management instruction to build the skills needed to allow them to live and/or work independently in their home or work environments.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with an emphasis in area of Vision Rehabilitation Therapy.
- ACVREP Certified or eligible for certification as a CVRT -OR- Florida teaching certificate to teach the Visually Impaired
- Orientation and Mobility specialist preferred
- Ability to write progress reports that are clear, concise, behavioral, objective, measurable, and reflect functional outcomes related to the instructional process.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook/Email, Internet) required.
- Learns and uses agency database and computer network with efficiency.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and ability to travel between schools and homes for itinerant services.
- Level Two background check required with clean driving record.
Part-time positions are limited to after-school and weekends. Our teenage program meets one weekend a month for a residential program (typically Saturday 9:00am to Sunday 10:00am). Our children’s program meets one Saturday a month for a day program, with some afterschool hours during the week. Both youth programs will have full-time, extensive summer programs. Days and hours can be flexible to meet your availability.
Compensation: Negotiable. Salary is competitive and will depend on experience and qualifications.

Lighthouse of the Big Bend (Tallahassee, FL) is seeking highly motivated Teachers of the Visually Impaired to provide direct instructional services to children ages birth-21 who are blind, visually impaired, or have multi-disabilities. FULL-TIME and PART-TIME positions available. INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS encouraged to apply.
TVIs are needed for 1) early intervention services provided in clients’ homes and off-site locations; 2) the operation of an after-school/weekend program (2-3 days a week) and summer camp (4 weeks total) for children ages 5-14; and 3) after-school and
